Rainbow Party Ideas

Happy Weekend!  It has been a long week in my neck of the woods.  February is always a very busy month for me at work.  We have a big all day event with money stations, our school auction, and somewhere in there we need to assess the students for report cards.  But we had snow here yesterday, which rarely happens!
With St. Patrick's Day just around the corner, I thought I would share some more rainbow party ideas.

I love these homemade rainbow glitter playdough party favors-how clever

Monster Tooth Pillow

I am still a ways off from any tooth fairy visits (my son is 3-1/2), but look at this cutest tooth fairy (or should I say monster fairy).

I don't have a lot of experience sewing, but my mom does.  I may just ask her to make me one of these!  The directions can be found here.

Cat in the Hat Pizza

Dr. SeussBeing a teacher and a mommy who loves to plan parties, I am already moving on from Valentine's Day and thinking ahead.  The next holiday in my books in Read Across America Day, March 2nd.  Many school-age celebrate this.  It is actually Dr. Seuess's birthday and in our class we spend the day celbrating it.  Last year in Family Fun magazine, I found a cat in the hat pizza.  Well, looking on the internet I found this picture of one:

I think I may try this.  What is your favorite Dr. Seuss book?  Mine is The Lorax, love the message it sends.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope you have all had a wonderful day.  My husband and I celebrated on Sunday and this evening we enjoyed a yummy Valentine's dinner with the family (courtesy of Papa Murphy's).  I wasn't going to cook this evening!

You've got to lover their heart shaped pizzas for $6.  Enjoy your evening.

My Mission

Tomorrow my mission is to find what I need to make this:  pink hot chocolate!
How cute is that?  You see I have a boy and a husband, so the girly stuff is kind of overlooked by sports.  SO, I take full advantage of Valentine's Day and use the color pink to its full extent!  The marshmellows are even handmade.  I have never made homemade marshmellows, I would imagine they are very tasty.  The directions for this can be found here.

Valentine's Party

Today was the Valentine's party I put on for my son and his preschool friends.  We had 7 kids here ages 3-4, lots of energy and fun.  I had covered our table with krsft wrapping paper (easy clean up and it looks nice).  When the kids arrived, the colored on some valentine coloring pages I had printed out.

Once everyone had arrived and colored for a bit, we headed outside to "hunt" for hearts.  I had hid at least 50 foam hearts out in the backyard.  The kids enjoyed finding them, re-hiding them and then finding them again. Exhausting!  Well after some outside time (the beauty of living in California...60 degress in February), we headed inside for a craft and snacks.  I had made the invites with an owl, so I stuck with the owl thing.  I had pre-cut an owl and various shapes from felt and let them deocrate it's face, stuff it and then glue it shut to make a pillow.  They turned out so cute!

For snacks I used a cookie cutter to make heart shaped cheese and put them on creackers, fruit kabobs, popcorn and some fun heart shaped cinnamon crackers.  For drinks, we had pink lemonade, with some of those fun red/white striped paper straws.

After some snack we were ready to go again.  We went outside for more playtime with balloons.  My intent was to play a game inside with them, but it was such nice weather that they just played outside and popped balloons, it was great and spontaneous.  Being a teacher, I have learned to just go with the flow, even if it doesn't go as planned.  The last thing we did was some good old fashioned cookie decorating.  Of course my son dumped the whole container of sprinkles on his cookie.  You can't even see his cookie, but it's there under the sprinkles.

Owl Valentine's Day Party

Wow!  It has really almost been a month since I have posted anything.  Slacker I am, actaully just been busy being a mommy and teacher.  But I did want to post some pics of a really cute owl Valentine party I stumbled across the other day.  It is much more elaborate than the one I will be throwing for my son and preschool friends tomorrow.

There are some more beautiful pictures here.  Tomorrow is our Valentine's party.  I will post pics this weekend sometime.  Have a great weekend!
